MEXICALI.- February 09, 2022.- The Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) secured the trial of five adults and one minor, including Luis Alfredo Garibay Félix, nicknamed “el wicho Garibay”.
The connection to trial was for violation of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, so that informal preventive detention was established as a precautionary measure for all defendants.
On January 31 “” el wicho ” Garibay and his cronies were shot at elements of the Mexican army, arresting and wounding the gang leader and one other man.
The confrontation took place on a ranch in the Chiapas 3 ejido, adjacent to the Colorado riverbed, in the Mexicali valley.
At the time of the arrest, those now linked to proceso had in their possession six rifle-type long weapons, 40 magazines of various calibres, a thousand seven cartridges of various calibres, and a grenade-caliber attachment .40, a bulletproof vest and a vehicle.
The control judge qualified the detention as legal, and the accused were transferred first to the Mexicali prison, and then to the El Hongo prison.
During the time that “el wicho” Garibay was hospitalized in the General Hospital of Mexicali, –more than a week– the front street of the hospital was closed and guarded by the army and other civilian police.
In the ordinary courts,” el wicho ” Garibay has an arrest warrant for crimes of homicide, forced disappearance and bodily harm.
