It was the French Iliad that literally drove Italian customers crazy in 2018. He came up with a very attractive mobile tariff offer, which has no analogues in the Czech Republic even now-that is, in 2022.
–
The tariff with unlimited calls and a package of 30 GB of data offered in conversion for only 160 CZK. It was, of course, an introductory offer, when the operator tried to attract a sufficient number of customers. The tariff offered first for a million customers, but after a month and a half added another 200,000 SIM cards, because it was sold out.
–
At the time, the company told Reuters that there were no unfair commercial practices. The price of CZK 160 for a given tariff is said to correspond exactly to the costs on the Italian market and was calculated so that the company does not make a profit.
–
Currently, the operator offers 120 GB of data, unlimited calls and SMS messages for less than CZK 220. With a share of about eight percent, Iliad is the fourth largest mobile operator in Italy.
–
Vodafone, by contrast, has a market share in Italy of around 28 percent. Thus, in the event of a successful acquisition, the position of the Iliad on the Italian market would increase significantly.
–
But representatives of either company have not yet officially confirmed the report.
