This Wednesday, the Force ouvrière trade union detailed the situation of health facilities in Ariège.
“We need to improve working conditions in public health facilities,” says Denis Denjean, secretary of the departmental union of Labor Force. Indeed, according to the union, the situation, especially in nursing homes, seems very difficult. “We have caregivers moving from one department to another. The majority work overtime every day. It’s very complicated for carers because they can no longer take time to do care normally,” he laments.
At the hospital center of the valleys of Ariège (Chiva) the situation is similar. Bernard Malbert, Labour Force Secretary of the Chiva stresses: “We are constantly understaffed. When there is a request for more staff in the wards, this call stops at the hospital management. Now, we want it to go back to the regional health agency (ARS). If they are not told anything, there will be no change, ” details the secretary of FO. He adds: “We are seeing more and more of our colleagues who are quitting their profession (nurse, carer…). It is necessary to realize that the system of public health institutions is creaking everywhere. “In addition, Covid-19 has exposed a number of shortcomings. For the members of Force ouvrière santé Ariège, “even after the health crisis, the situation will remain the same”.
Supported by figures, the trade unionists conclude: “There have been 600,000 carers who have resigned in France. »
A number that hurts to hear.
