Will Enter Indonesia, Wuling’s Cheap Electric Car Becomes the Best Seller in China

The Wuling Hongguan Mini became the best-selling electric car in China throughout 2021. This cheap car beat big names like Tesla and BYD.

Quoted from CNBC.com, Wuling Hongguan Mini experienced a threefold increase in sales last year. Throughout 2021, the mini-sized electric car has sold 395,451 units.

The signs of the Wuling Hongguan Mini being the best-selling electric car in China have actually been clearly read throughout the year. The car, which is sold at a price of Rp. 60 million, continues to top the list of highest sales every month.

Interestingly, Wuling plans to sell its cheap electric cars in Indonesia starting in 2022. At the GIIAS 2021 event, Wuling even confirmed that it would produce the Wuling Hongguang EV Maracon at its factory in Indonesia.

“Next year (2002 – ed) will be a global product that will be introduced together throughout the world and will be the newest product to be introduced in 70 countries. That’s the reason we will only sell in 2022, because we want to introduce the latest generation to the Indonesian market ,” said Assistant President of Wuling Motors, Han Dehong.

Although not number one in the number of electric car sales, Tesla and BYD as a whole still dominate electric cars in China.

In the list of the top 10 best-selling electric cars, there are three cars from BYD. While Tesla put two of its cars on the same list.

Chery, a brand that will soon enter Indonesia, is also on this list. Chery eQ is in the position of the eight best-selling electric cars in China.
