This Tuesday, the relatives of the king of pop were present on the red carpet for the premiere of the show!
After several postponements due to the pandemic, the premiere of the musical “MJ: The Musical” took place this Tuesday, February 1 in New York.
The show centers around the King of Pop’s career and features his biggest hits and musical influencers. Michael Jackson is interpreted by three actors at different stages of its life.
On the red carpet the family and the relatives of the artist had made an appointment. Paris and Prince had come to pay homage to their father, as well as the director Spike Lee, but also the reverend Al Sharpton.
This premiere was highly controversial due to accusations of pedophilia against Jackson and of which he was acquitted in 2005. For the screenwriter Lynn Nottage, it was not a question of venturing into the field of controversy but of concentrating on the artist “You know, in art, there is always a great deal of complexity. There is a dark side in all of us. In the story of Michael Jackson, you cannot eclipse the complexity of the character. I think is what makes him an artist too.”
It is Christopher Wheeldon who provided the direction and the choreography of the show, grandiose, like the career of MJ!
