Climate, infrastructure, education: where investments will be made in Enns this year

The forecast income of around 36.5 million euros is offset by planned expenditure of 38.5 million euros. The difference will be settled through reserves.

Central point on the agenda of the oldest city in Austria: the climate. A climate coordinator is to start work this year, and Enns wants to become climate-neutral by 2030. In addition, the redesign of the main square is being tackled. Mayor Christian Deleja-Hotko (SP) says it is to be newly furnished, “greener” and thus more inviting. Also with the aim of increasing the frequency and length of stay in the center. In addition, the conversion of street lighting to LED will start, for which 200,000 euros are estimated in the first year. In addition, investments are being made in the infrastructure (around 600,000 euros for roads, footpaths and cycle paths), as well as in education and childcare (keyword: completion of the general renovation of the elementary school). Furthermore, the planning for the new fire station should pick up speed this year.

The ongoing corona crisis challenges Enns as well as other communities. “We are now even more careful with everything,” says Mayor Deleja-Hotko.

Environmental Councilor Michael Reichhardt from the Greens is satisfied with the budget, the early involvement of all factions has paid off: “In this way, important milestones in future topics such as climate protection and mobility could be set together.”
