The Spanish justice has launched an investigation into former FC BarcelonaPresident Josep Maria Bartomeu. He would have committed fraud at the Spanish superpower.
Justice has launched the investigation after an official complaint from current Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who is said to have carried out an analysis of the state of affairs under Bartomeu. Following the results of that analysis, he decided to file a complaint with the Spanish judiciary for ‘economic crimes’. Various Spanish media, including SPORT Diary, unpack with the news.
Should the investigation lead to the same conclusions, the Spanish justice can proceed to prosecute Bartomeu and his board members. Justice has six months to gather evidence and to speak to several witnesses to support Laporta’s complaint.
