To quote a report from Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Friday (28/1/2022), King Salman’s decree was issued last Thursday.
“Considering that the middle of 1139H, coinciding with February 1727, marked the start of the reign of Imam Muhammad bin Saud,” the report reads. SPA, describes the founding of the state of Saudi Arabia.

Relevant authorities, continued SPA, will receive more information to apply the new holiday.
A Brief History
The decision to commemorate “Foundation Day” on February 22 dates back three centuries. according to SPA, it dates back to the leadership of Imam Muhammad bin Saud when he founded the First Saudi State in early 1727.
“His reign lasted until 1818, with Diriyah as his capital and the Koran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as his constitution,” the report continued. SPA.
The First Saudi State reportedly survived several phases of hardship.
At the end of the reign of the First Saudi State, Imam Turki bin Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Saud succeeded in 1824 and established the Second Saudi State which lasted until 1891.
