The Snuipp-FSU has called for a nationwide strike for January 13 to “achieve safe school conditions under Omicron”. “This historic mobilization by its scale over the past twenty years is not a strike against the virus but illustrates the growing fed up in schools”, denounces the union.
Other teacher unions, SE-Unsa, Snes-FSU, Snalc, CGT Educ’action, SUD Education, FO and Sgen-CFDT joined the notice. In schools, a minimum reception is supposed to be organized.
The Snuipp-FSU denounces “deteriorating working conditions” and “the permanent lies of the Minister of Education”, Jean-Michel Blanquer, who had launched Tuesday morning: “We are not going on strike against a virus”.
Monday January 8, as the strike notice is fast approaching, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced a relaxation of the health protocol in schools. Three simple self-tests for contact cases at school, without the obligation of antigen or PCR testing, are now required. Announcements that will certainly not be enough to extinguish the discontent both on the side of parents and teachers.
Covid-19 health protocols constantly modified, non-replacement of absentees, lack of masks…the reasons for the anger of primary and secondary school teachers are numerous, the fed up is widespread. It is also the feeling of not being considered and supported by the government that motivates teachers after two years of the pandemic.
“The announcement of the new health protocol on Sunday January 2, on the eve of the start of the school year, was the straw that broke the camel’s back!”, explained a few days ago Karine Laurent, co-secretary of the SNUipp – FSU union (school teachers) for the Doubs. Beyond the issue of air purifiers or CO2 sensors, it is really a general fed up. We really feel that the school is not considered… ».
