We all dream of New York, its buildings, its avenues, its stores, its stars… but have you ever noticed that we have the same (or almost) thing in Paris?!
1) Immeubles haussmaniens VS buildings
Maybe Americans have a long list of tall buildings (432 Park Avenue, Empire State Building, Bank of America Tower, Times Square Tower…) but Paris is full of equally beautiful and impressive Haussmann buildings. It’s not the size that matters!

2) Tarte tatin VS Apple Pie
In addition to having the traditional apple pie -found in the USA-, we have THE tarte tatin; upside-down apple pie and with multiple legends since 1848: if some say that the sisters Caroline and Stéphanie (nothing to do with the Monaco sisters) Tatin upside down an apple pie out of clumsiness and therefore turned it over to do something with it, others think that the two young women who ran a restaurant in Lamotte-Beuvron spilled their dish in the oven and served it to customers… But in any case, this dessert has become a classic in Paris and France !

3) The Champs-Elysées VS Park Avenue
The 4th Avenue or Park Avenue is comparable to our Champs-Elysées: wide and long avenue on which there are a number of luxury stores and high-priced homes.
@parmorceau
No need to take a plane to visit Chinatown in New York, that of Paris is just as enticing, exotic and renowned. Indeed, while strolling in the 13th arrondissement of the capital, one comes across traditional canteens, lacquered ducks in restaurant windows, Buddhist temples or recognized herbalists. China at your fingertips!

5) Parc Monceau VS Central Park
Ok Central Park, it’s huge, it’s beautiful, there’s even a zoo in the middle. But do you know Parc Monceau? Located in the very center of the city (in the 8th arrondissement) with an area of 8.25 ha, it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and vast parks in Paris, not to be missed. And if you want to see animals, you have to go to the Ménagerie de Paris zoo in the 5th arrondissement.

6) Financiers VS cupcakes
We love cupcakes (cookies and brownies too, by the way) which are endlessly available, but we can’t brag about having invented them. While the financial, yes! And yes ma’am!
@yodrevion29
7) Eiffel Tower VS Statue of Liberty
They have the Statue of Liberty, but we have better: in addition to having the Eiffel Tower right in the center (no need to take the boat to approach it), there are no less than 5 Statues of Liberty in Paris. In terms of historical, mythical and tourist monuments, we are therefore not to complain.
@flywithpoppy
8) Roland Garros VS US Open
Between football, rugby, boxing, fencing, judo or even golf and tennis with Roland Garros, Paris is not behind in terms of sport… And we are not talking about the Summer Olympics of 2024 which will take place in the capital; which brings us back to 1 everywhere since the USA (in Lake Placid exactly) had their winter games in 1932.

9) Pont des Arts VS Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is impressive and unmissable. But so is the Pont des Arts. Who hasn’t dreamed of hanging their padlock on it (ok we can’t anymore)? Who has never dreamed of crossing it with his other half, with friends or family? Who has never dreamed of taking a photo of the view of Paris live from the Pont des Arts?
@laurent_binet_
10) Taxi? VS Taxi!
This is perhaps the difference between Paris and New York… if New Yorkers raise their hands (even their fingers) and shout TAXI! to have a driver who stops immediately, Parisians always ask “Can you take me there? before getting into the car.
@ bmaia18
We could also add croissant VS donut, ham and butter VS burger, green casting VS high line, croque monsieur VS hot dog or pigeons VS rats (even rats VS rats)… And then, if the Big Apple remains a magical city, full of surprises and dynamism, let’s not forget that Paris is known to be the most beautiful city in the world… in all objectivity!
