Credit card giant Visa with profit and sales jump. In the three months to the end of December, net income rose 27 percent over the same period last year to $4.0 billion (3.6 billion euros), as Visa announced on Thursday after the US market closed. Revenue increased 24 percent to $7.1 billion in the quarter.
Visa continues to benefit from the boom in online shopping, which is often paid for by credit card. In addition, due to the recovery of travel from the pandemic, international payments – for example for flight bookings or hotels abroad – are also increasing significantly again. The quarterly figures clearly exceeded financial market expectations. The stock rose by around 5 percent in after-hours trading.
