Organized by the Brotherhood of Knights of Tastevin, this 109th edition of Tastevinage will take place on March 25 at the Château du Clos de Vougeot.
The 109th edition of Tastevinage, organized by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, will take place on Friday March 25 at the Château du Clos de Vougeot and will close the week of the Grands Jours de Bourgogne.
Daniel Picouly will be the sponsor of this next edition; a particularly symbolic choice even though his latest book, “Les Larmes du Vin”, published in January by Éditions Albin Michel, evokes the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, and in particular his enthronement as a Chevalier, a special moment.
With Daniel Picouly, a questioning and an unprecedented perspective of our relationship to wine, on the occasion of this 109th edition of Tastevinage.
“Daniel Picouly’s choice is both singular and obvious for this 109th edition”, emphasizes Arnaud Orsel. “Singular, because the man admits that he is in no way a specialist in this universe, and in tasting. Obvious, because his story is a moving and funny philosophy that leads us to question the place of what he calls this “social binder” in our existence. This delicious blend could only give an excellent godfather! “, he specifies.
Daniel Picouly won in 1996 with “Le Champ de personne” (Grand Prize for ELLE readers) then with “L’Enfant Léopard” (Prix Renaudot, 1999). He has published with Albin Michel editions “The Night of Lampedusa”, “The Spelling Mistake is my Mother Tongue”, “The Silent Cry of the Iguana”, “Quatre-Vingt-Dix Secondes” (finalist for the Goncourt Prize 2019 and Prix Nice-Baie-des-Anges) and “For a long time I went to bed with Happiness”.
With “Les Larmes du Vin”, he transforms an unprecedented experience into literary expression. Even though he was inducted Chevalier du Tastevin at the Livres en Vignes fair, he was ordered to give a speech on wine. The challenge is great for him who knows nothing about it, but he transforms it into a wonderful opportunity to revisit his memories and to question the place of alcohol in his life. A red thread that leads him to look back on his memories from his origins, childhood, family, studies, to his condition as a writer, passing through the joys and disenchantments of an itinerary like no other. . So he becomes a subtle observer of the sometimes deleterious effects of wine on human nature, sketching out a form of small personal philosophy, in a very moving novel, of great originality, in the inimitable and flamboyant style that characterizes him.
