Copa America tribute to Diego Maradona

On the occasion of Argentina’s entry into the Copa America 2021, CONMEBOL carried out a vibrant augmented reality tribute ceremony before the match.

It was already November 25th. Diego Maradona passed away after suffering a heart attack at his residence north of Buenos Aires, just weeks after undergoing brain surgery for a blood clot. He was 60 years old.

Equivalent to UEFA in South America, CONMEBOL chose Argentina’s entry into the running against Chile in this Copa America 2021 to pay a vibrant tribute to the Pibe de Oro thanks to a magical spectacle in augmented reality.

A tribute that revisits the greatest moments that forged the legend of Diego Armando Maradona thanks to technological prowess.

The late genius never won the competition with Albiceleste but there is no doubt that the ceremony was worthy of his greatness.
