This Sunday, January 30 will take place the fifth day of opening of the Terville vaccination center. And it won’t be the last. Room 112 will still welcome candidates for injection on Sundays February 6 and 13. “With the introduction of the vaccination pass on February 15, the center coordinator deemed it necessary to add these two additional dates,” explains the municipality.
The town of Terville got into the race for vaccination rather late with a first day on December 19th. “No, rectifies Mayor Olivier Postal. We had informed the ARS (Regional Health Agency, Editor’s note) of our intention to open a municipal center a good year earlier. But all the prerequisites had to be fulfilled. »

A (large) adapted room
“The first role of a mayor is to guarantee the safety of his fellow citizens,” underlines Olivier Postal. As successive waves progressed, it seemed important to us to open up vaccination to as many people as possible. »
The space Le 112, with an area of 650 m², seems obvious to open this municipal injection center. “The ARS requires a place large enough to comply with the health protocol”: setting up a well-defined and fluid circuit, different entrances and exits, possibility of installing tents with partitioned spaces for medical visits and injections as well as a resting place.
“Our role is to provide the room, provide logistics, find administrative staff, set up the computer system and secure the premises”, lists the mayor.
The City must also be responsible for communication with the population. “At this stage, we had the room, the will but not the medical side, essential for the continuation of the project. »

A willing and available medical team
Without the support and backing of doctors and caregivers, no communal center is possible. Until now remained a dead letter, the municipality’s request to the ARS will take a new turn with the chance meeting of Jean-Marie Thirion, surgeon at the Notre-Dame clinic in Thionville. “He explained to me that he provided decentralized vaccination sessions, remembers the mayor. I then proposed to him to be coordinator of the Tervillois center and he accepted. »
Provided that the latter brings together full medical staff, with several doctors and nurses, who can be mobilized for one day. And that the coordinator can be able to provide enough doses of vaccines. Olivier Postal readily admits it. “Building this team which, moreover, is proactive, is the most complicated. We really met the right people at the right time. »

Authorization from the Regional Health Agency
The two previous conditions met, the municipality of Terville had to wait for the approval of the ARS. “His specifications are very strict. The coordinator, in close contact with her, must ensure compliance with the protocol, ”explains the mayor.
A week before the opening of the first vaccination day, on December 19, “everything was ready. We just needed the authorization of the ARS ”. It arrived only 48 hours before opening! “It takes patience and a lot of willpower,” concedes the mayor, who estimates the cost of a day of vaccination at around 1,000 euros for the municipality. “This expense is minimal compared to the service we provide to the population. »
