In Oslo, the Taliban met with representatives from the United States, France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Norway and the EU.
“The fact that we came to Norway is in itself an advantage for the government in Afghanistan,” Foreign Minister Amir Chan Muttaki, head of the Taliban delegation, said yesterday.
He stated that through these meetings, Afghanistan will receive humanitarian, medical and educational support.
The talks were held behind closed doors and focused on the human rights situation and the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. The humanitarian situation worsened after the capture of the capital of Afghanistan by the Taliban.
According to the UN, millions of people in the country are at risk of starvation.
