He said Britain took the lead in creating a package of economic sanctions against Russia and supplying defense weapons to Ukraine.

NATO has put troops on high alert.

quote BBC, Tuesday (25/1/2022), NATO allies have sent additional warships and fighter jets to eastern Europe to strengthen defenses and increase deterrence, in response to Russia’s continued troop increase.

Russia has denied having plans to invade Ukraine, but an estimated 100,000 of its troops have gathered at the border.

The Kremlin accused NATO of increasing tensions with the move. Russia views the alliance as a threat, and demands legal guarantees that it will not expand further east, including into Ukraine.

But the US says the issue at stake is Russian aggression, not NATO expansion.
