As of February 1, 2022, the covid passport will go from having 12 months of validity to 9, as approved on December 21 by the European Commission.
270 days of validity for all those with two doses or one dose of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine. Once this time elapses for the passport to remain valid, the person must have received the additional dose.
It is a decision whose purpose is to encourage citizens to wear the third vaccine against COVID-19. For this reason, the European Union give three more months of the estimated term to receive the booster dose and thus maintain the validity of the document.
It will mark who can travel
Only the covid passport will mark who can travel and who cannot. As of February 1, 2022, if a citizen wants to travel, they will have to take into account what is requested of them in order to do so:
- If you have the vaccination schedule must, before completing 9 months of the last puncture, receive a booster dose to extend the validity of the digital certificate.
- If the Covid-19 has passed, the Covid passport is granted to you as a recovery certificate and is valid for 6 months.
- In the case of performing a PCR or antigen test, you are granted a temporary covid passport 72 hours or 48 hours, respectively.
From now on, only those who do not have a valid covid passport can be required to undergo PCR and quarantine. A new decision of this current new phase of the pandemic, in which we are learning to live with the virus.
