Victim wants Robinho to serve time for rape in Brazil or Italy

THE forward Robinho was ultimately sentenced, last Wednesday, for group sexual violence, and the victim, an Albanian woman who had her identity withheld, expects the player to serve the sentence of nine years in prison.

Through her lawyer, Giaccobo Gnocchi, the victim defended the execution of the sentence for group sexual violence, whether in Brazil or Italy. Robinho was sentenced by the Italian justice, but he will hardly go to the European country, since the Constitution vetoes the extradition of Brazilians. The athlete, however, can serve the sentence in Brazil.

“If the culprit were in Italy, an arrest warrant would be issued and the sentence would be carried out, the problem is that whoever was found guilty is not in Italy and is not an Italian citizen. He is in Brazil, and he is a Brazilian citizen”, explained the victim’s lawyer in an interview with “Fantástico”.

“It’s not an extradition problem. If there is extradition, that’s fine, but if the sentence is served in Brazil, that’s fine too,” he added.

The lawyer also reported that the victim attended the hearing at the Court of Cassation in Rome, and was moved to follow the end of the episode, which began in 2013, in a nightclub in Milan, Italy. Last Thursday, the woman had spoken for the first time, sending an exclusive message to UOL.

Giaccobo Gnocchi spoke about the woman’s reaction to the trial. “The victim was present, attended the hearing and after we heard the decision, she didn’t make any statement. Obviously she was emotional, because it was the last phase of a process in which she was the victim. She wants to move on with her life. , calm. It was never a question of compensation, of money, but of seeing the law applied because of the violence suffered”, said the lawyer.

Finally, Gnocchi left a message for Brazilian women, and encouraged them to report cases like her client’s.

“The message is always to denounce. Despite the difficulties of each country, and the different situations, the law exists. Silence does not help anyone. In silence, violence is hidden. Therefore, it is necessary to denounce”, he said.
