MP Bernard Généreux says he has received a growing number of complaints related to employment insurance, in particular by residents of his riding, who would be accidental victims of an increase in the number of frauds requiring investigations and manual processing of applications. .
Although Service Canada has a duty to protect taxpayers’ money against fraud and abuse, the MP asks the Minister of Social Development to ensure that files suffering from substantial delays can be released quickly.
“It is totally unacceptable to see claimants waiting months and months to receive benefits because of the slowness of their department in processing files,” said MP Bernard Généreux. This fraud has been known since well before the holidays, so the situation should have been resolved since we are at the end of January.
The MNA invites citizens who have suffered processing delays of more than 4 weeks to notify his team at the Montmagny and Rivière-du-Loup offices in order to better understand the extent of the problem and aim to resolve specific situations with Service Canada.
