Since the beginning of August last year, the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech announced its strategy to begin to settle in our country with the first production plant for vaccines against COVID-19 and other diseases such as influenza and hepatitis, becoming one of the company’s main investments in Latin America.

As reported this weekend by the Financial Journal, the pharmaceutical mega project It will be installed in Quilicura and the company plans to start operations at the end of 2022. In fact, there are already dozens of people hired to carry out the preparations for the development of the business, and a delegation of Sinovac executives is expected to arrive in early March to assess the progress of the construction.

Within the convictions of the firm, there is the goal of producing 50 million vaccines against the initially announced diseases and possibly, to counteract polio and chickenpox. Likewise, the technology necessary for its development is only waiting to be imported from the Asian giant to our country.
