Viral Anime Event Crowd, Satpol PP Reprimands Mall of Indonesia Management

A video showing the crowd during the anime event at Mall Of Indonesia (MOI), North Jakarta on Saturday (22/1) went viral on social media. PP Satpol also went directly to the field and took firm action against the MOI management.

The viral video was re-uploaded by DKI Jakarta DPRD Member Agustina Hermanto or who is familiarly called Tina Toon through her Instagram. In the video, it can be seen that many visitors visited the event.

“Following up on residents’ reports about crowds in malls, we have coordinated with the Task Force and sub-districts,” reads the statement in the video seen on Instagram @tinatoon101 as seen on Sunday (23/1/1022).

Tina Toon asked the local COVID-19 Task Force to immediately follow up on residents’ reports. Then, the PDIP politician also urged that sanctions be enforced.

“The first step is to take anticipatory steps so that it doesn’t happen again tomorrow, especially all police officers, task forces, transportation services, etc., come down to guard and sanction PPKM violations, which will then be examined and investigated by the authorized Satpol PP, capacity checks and others later,” said Tina Toon.

Satpol PP DKI Reprimands MOI Management

Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin said that his party immediately responded to the report by visiting the location of the ANIMETOKU event which featured Anime Cosplay. Satpol PP conducts Satpol PP also provides sanctions in the form of a written warning to the MOI management as the person in charge of the event.

“The Satpol PP also gave a written warning to the person in charge of the event, namely the MOI management for negligence in carrying out the event which has been going on since Saturday (22/1),” said Arifin in a written statement, Sunday (23/1/2021).

“For all forms of violations committed by business actors or any party, we do not hesitate to take action according to applicable policies. Hopefully, incidents like this do not repeat themselves, and the public remains obedient to health protocols, considering the number of cases in Jakarta is also on the rise,” he continued.

Arifin also asked that business actors are expected to continue to strictly limit the number of visitors and supervise the implementation of health protocols in their business areas. In addition, Satpol PP officers together with the sub-district COVID-19 Task Force were alerted at the location.

“Officers gave direct warnings at the event location so that visitors still adhere to health protocols. Then a special visitor lane arrangement in the anime cosplay event stand area is made one-way,” he explained.

MOI Management Cancels On-Stage Events and Anime Competition

MOI’s management decided to cancel the on-stage event and anime competition and prohibit visitors from wearing cosplay while in the exhibition area and mall.

“All ANIMETOKU activities on Sunday, January 23, 2022 only present Anime Toys and Merchandise exhibition activities,” reads the statement on Instagram @mallofindonesia.

Then, the management also requires visitors to dress normally and implement strict health protocols.

“All visitors to Mall of Indonesia are required to look normal without wearing cosplay attributes, the management of Mall of Indonesia forbids visitors who attend wearing cosplay costumes while in the exhibition area and mall,” he added.

“Visitors are also required to continue to apply health protocols by checking in through the Care Protect application and will strictly limit the number of visitors,” he added.
