Ubaya Nature Lovers Student Activities (Mapaus) in Mount Pananggungan cause casualties. Erfando Ilham (19) died on the way down the mountain.
The Ubaya Psychology Faculty student participated in Adventure Training in the mountains for 3 days. There were a total of 12 participants, one of them was Erfando.
“There are 12 participants, 6 committee members. On Wednesday we arrived at the Kedungudi Post (Trawas District, Mojokerto) to stay one night,” said Adventure Training Committee Mapaus Yoga Murdana (22) to detikjatim, Sunday (23/1/2022).
Yoga told the participants to start climbing the next day around 10.00 WIB to Lembah Kemuncak until finally arriving at 16.00 WIB for nature bivouac activities and night compass.
“Activities in the Peak Valley are natural bivores and night compasses. Because the foggy weather endangers the participants, our night compass is gone, replaced by rest participants,” explained Yoga.
After the break, participants were woken up early in the morning to continue the ascent to Mayit Valley, which is an hour away.
The participants underwent rock climbing and repling training in Lembah Mayit until around 17.00 WIB. Afterwards, the group returned to the campsite in the Peak Valley.
“Then isoma. That Friday night there was a game, yelling, memorizing the code of ethics for nature lovers until around 9 pm. After that, all participants took a break,” he explained.
Saturday (22/1) at around 09.00 WIB, said Yoga, the participants continued their journey to Sara Klopo Peak. The group arrived at the location around 13.00 WIB.
“At this location the activities are land navigation, afternoon compasses, there are SAR materials looking for victims. At around 4 pm we finished,” he said.
