Although his fans continue to support him to the fullest, Johnny Depp (58) essentially banned from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood and only a shadow of a few years ago when he was one of the most popular and highest paid stars in the industry.
In fact, the two-time Academy Award nominee hasn’t signed up for a single live-action role since being cast in Minamata (2018) which only got a limited release.
However, that is now about to change, as Variety reports that Depp has been contracted to play King Louis XV in a new biopic.
The drama is directed by Maïwenn Le Besco and will begin production this summer, lasting a total of three months.
The story tells of the well-known monarch who reigned for 59 years before dying as a disgraced ruler with charges of debauchery and corruption looming over his head.
French spoken
The film will probably not be shot in English, so Depp will have to brush up on his French accent, but this seems like a small effort.
After all, he lived in the country for a long time during his marriage to (now ex-wife) Vanessa Paradis. It may not be quite the comeback his fans would have liked, but everyone has to start somewhere.
