The rebels in the Conservative Party, which is demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, claim to have footage showing that they are being threatened and blackmailed.

William Wragg, who sits in Parliament for Johnson’s Tory party, claims government members and others have called for the blackening of party members suspected of turning against Johnson.

According to Wragg, some are also at risk of losing campaign support.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson rejected this in the House of Commons.

“I have neither seen nor heard evidence to support these allegations,” he said.

Heated conversations

Johnson’s critics are now considering publishing secret footage from “heated conversations” that substantiate the allegations they have made, according to Sky News.

One of Johnson’s critics says he was taken aside by the party’s whip in the House of Commons, Mark Spencer, who threatened that he would not get a single penny in campaign support if he voted to oust the prime minister.

The background to the upsetting battle in the Conservative Party is the British media’s revelations that at least eleven parties were held in the Prime Minister’s residence and other government premises between May 2020 and April 2021, when there were strict coronary restrictions in Britain.

Deny

Johnson’s former adviser Dominic Cummings claims to have warned the prime minister against a much-publicized garden party in May 2020, something Johnson denies.

Several party colleagues do not trust this, and believe Johnson is a burden for the party.

If Johnson is forced to resign, it is highly unclear who the successor will be. Foreign Minister Liz Truss, Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and Interior Minister Priti Patel are among the possible candidates mentioned by the newspaper The Times.
