In his declaration, he and his wife would have said that they lived in Cyprus, while they were simply in the Netherlands for most of the year. — The fraudulent couple was discovered by an investigation within the so-called ‘debit-credit card project’. This involves investigating suspicious payments. It turned out that the man and woman made many payments in the Netherlands with a payment card that was linked to a foreign bank account. The tax authorities therefore assume that the couple was in the Netherlands for most of the year, instead of in Cyprus. — The couple would have lived in the Netherlands for the most part until 2018, while they have not paid any tax on this. As a result, the treasury would have lost about 340,000 euros per year. — Tax fine at the tax authorities The couple has meanwhile concluded an agreement with the tax authorities to repay the unpaid tax money. In addition, the man pays a tax fine to the Tax Authorities, as a result of which the tax disadvantage for the Dutch state has been undone. — The couple’s wife was also initially seen as a suspect in this case. According to the Public Prosecution Service, she played only a small role in tax evasion. The case against her has therefore been dropped. — Related posts:Loire.
