A woman was arrested on Tuesday in a small village in North Texasafter police discovered she had been forcing her 11-year-old daughter to live with her father’s body for several weeks, local media reported this week.
Susan Que Smith was arrested and imprisoned for child endangerment, tampering with evidence and failure to declare death. She explained to the police that she had not declared the death of Allen Wiest, the father of her daughter, of fear of being evicted from her accommodation where the man was not supposed to be.
The mother and her daughter lived with this decomposing body for three or four weeks, in the city of Electra, in the middle of the oil fields. It was the local police chief, Terry Wooten, who discovered the corpse covered with a blanket and garbage bags on December 1st.
His daughter was care by child protective services and hospitalized with infections from insect bites.
