From “farmer cheating” to “no real social policy”: government drags itself to agreement on energy bill

Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten (Green) only wants to reduce the VAT on electricity. She would leave the gas-fired one untouched for ecological reasons. With this proposal, she hopes to bridge the gap between the full VAT reduction of Vooruit and CD&V and the limited intervention in the energy bill advocated by Open VLD.
