Devin (20) can play football again after tumor, gets honorary hague in ArenA

Plank hadn’t played football for a long time because a malignant tumor was discovered in his lower leg a year ago. The footballer then entered a process of operations and chemotherapy. For the first time since the tumor was discovered, he was able to return to the field on behalf of the amateur club yesterday.

‘Beautiful moment’

The footballer was surprised by the honorary hedge. He told ESPN’s camera afterwards how he experienced the moment. “I’m very happy to fill in,” said Plank with a wide smile on his face. “It didn’t look like I would come in for a while, because we had already made four substitutions. But in the end it was a nice moment.”

“I think the realization will only come tomorrow,” the footballer continued. “Now I still have some healthy tension in me. That’s why I’m still quite sober about it, I think.”

‘Training hard’

So against Ajax, which beat Maassluis 9-0, Plank only came to a few minutes, but he says he is going to work on getting fitter, so that he can play more. “In the coming period I will train hard, in the gym and on the field. I am already working on coming back every day. I hope to get more minutes as soon as possible.”
