The Municipality of Montevideo (IM), in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and the Honorary Commission for the Fight against Tuberculosis and Prevalent Diseases, carry out the vaccination campaign against coronavirus at fairs for people over 18 years of age.
On Thursday, January 20, from 9:30 am, the first of the sessions began at the Piedras Blancas fair. The director of the Health Division of the commune, Virginia Cardozo, reported that the objective of this initiative is to facilitate access to vaccines.
“This new strategy is intended to reach those of us who have not been able to, even by installing ourselves in places with high circulation, so that vaccination is at hand,” Cardozo said in statements recorded on the website of the mayor’s office.
The vaccination posts work from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and it is not necessary to schedule. To access first, second or third doses it is required to present an identity card and be over 18 years of age. People are vaccinated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The start of this campaign was well attended. “Many elderly and disabled people came to get vaccinated, which reinforces the idea that we have to make vaccination accessible, always get as close to people as possible,” added Cardozo.
On Friday, January 21, he will be vaccinated at the Manga fair, on the way to Pettirossi and Av. Instalations.
