After celebrating 80 years of Captain America last year with the mini-series The United States of Captain America, and the conclusion of the volume of Ta-Nehisi Coates, it’s time to reset the clocks and the counters to zero for this historical figure of the superheroic pan of Marvel. And since, on the screens, it is a certain Sam Wilson who is the new bearer of the famous starry shield, the House of Ideas could not bring himself to grant only a regular series to Steve Rogers. Also, it is two series that the publisher orders, for each of the two heroes.
One thumb is better than two Captain America
It is from the month of April 2022 that hostilities will begin, with first of all a one-shot Captain America #0 which must mark new beginnings both for Steve Rogers and for Sam Wilson. Subsequently, two new regular series will be able to see the light of day. On the one hand, a series Captain America : Symbol of Truth in May, with Tochi Onyebuchi in writing and R.B. Silva (Powers of X) to the drawings, which will be devoted to Sam Wilson. Then, in June, we can find a series Captain America : Wings of Liberty dedicated to Steve Rogers, written by Collin Kelly and Jackzon Lanzing (Kang the Conqueror) with carmen ram (Captain Marvel, Hellions) at drawings.
The number Captain America #0 will also be written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing with drawings of Mattia de Iulis (Jessica Jones), and must explain why it is useful, and not contradictory, to have two Captain America simultaneously. One would like to say that there is not so much need to justify the thing: three or four years ago, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson had already been entitled to a series Captain America simultaneously, under the leadership of Nick Spencer. Nevertheless, Marvel thinks big by entrusting the care of having two blankets ofAlex Ross on this issue, as well as a cover in wraparound from Mark Brooks, the whole being, it must be admitted, truly splendid.
