There are currently 2,417 corona patients in Belgian hospitals. That is an increase of 21 percent compared to a week ago. The number of patients requiring intensive care continues to fall and is now at 391 (-13 percent). This is evident from the dashboard of health institute Sciensano.

On average, 218 corona patients were admitted in the last seven days in the hospital, an increase of 21 percent compared to a week earlier.
Also the average number infections continues to rise. Between January 9 and 15, there were an average of 27,761 per day, 27 percent more than the week before.
The average number death rose 15 percent over the same period to 20.6 per day.
The positivity rate continues to rise and is now at 34.3 percent. This means that more than one in three people tested positive for corona. The reproduction number is at 1.15, indicating that the epidemic is still gaining momentum.
Nearly two thirds (64 percent) of Belgian adults have now received a booster shot.
