Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United States (US) sounded the war alarm, Tuesday (18/1/2022). The country of President Joe Biden mentioned the possibility of a Russian attack.
The attack was related to President Vladimir Putin’s country’s problems with Ukraine. This also stems from Ukraine’s shift in proximity from Moscow to the European Union and the conflicting territorial claims in Crimea.
In her explanation at the White House, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the United States believed Russia could now attack Ukraine at any time. He even pointed to Putin having created a crisis.
The woman also warned Russia again that economic sanctions the country had never seen would be imposed if Russia was reckless. Possible sanctions will refer to the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline, from Russia to Germany.
“No option is impossible … a very dangerous situation,” he stressed again.
The war alarm went off as Russia announced war games with neighboring ally Belarus on Monday. Ukraine itself is south of Belarus and east of NATO and Poland.
Neither Moscow nor Minsk disclosed the number of troops involved in the drills. But Twitter reports indicate that thousands of Russian Armed Forces (VSRF) soldiers are moving massively into Belarus.
Not only personnel, the Russian military also deployed a number of main weapons systems (defense equipment), ranging from tanks, armored vehicles, to rocket and missile launcher systems. A number of videos recorded the massive movement of the Russian military defense equipment, which was carried by train.
“Russia will probably attack Ukraine from Belarus,” the senior US official said.
Meanwhile, quoted from UK Defense Journal, Britain has deployed troops to Ukraine. They were transported by two Boeing C-17 transport aircraft belonging to the British Royal Air Force (RAF), since Monday.
TASS also writes London has sliced a hand-held grenade launcher with a range of up to 800 meters. This is to help the defense of Ukraine if attacked by Russia. NATO member Turkey supplies combat drones to Ukrainian forces.
