NEW YORK (AP) — A dangerous winter storm Monday caused significant snowfall, lightning and gales in the northeastern United States.

The storm dumped about a foot (30 centimeters) of snow in parts of the state of New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania Sunday night and into Monday morning, after pummeling parts of the southeast a day earlier.
