As the world electrifies and condemns internal combustion engines, BMW is preparing new six-cylinder and eight-cylinder engines.

Electric car sales are slowly rising and no carmaker can afford to ignore this trend, but while some have decided to bet everything on the electric card and want to say goodbye to internal combustion engines in the coming years, BMW still has big plans for them.
Frank Weber, head of the development department at the Munich carmaker, confirmed this in an interview with the German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. According to him, BMW is now working on a new generation of internal combustion engines – petrol, diesel, six-cylinder and eight-cylinder.

People in the automaker believe that to effectively reduce global CO emissions2 BMW will need internal combustion engines in the coming years, which will actually be a work of art. Technologically, the new engines should be ready to meet future emission standards.
„We only reduce CO emissions from six-cylinder engines2 more massively than has ever been the case with generational change,Weber suggested the changes. At the same time, he added that the carmaker’s efforts are being helped by the standardization of legislation on emissions in the world.
The main change in the new engines should take place in the cylinder head, thanks to which the carmaker manages to significantly increase the efficiency of the engines. Weber added that not only CO reduction is important for the carmaker2but also fulfilling the wishes of customers. The future of the brand will then probably be about finding a balanced approach between customer wishes and obligations to legislation.
