Leipzig – Christmas is just around the corner – a family celebration, for which, however, all sorts of preparations have to be made. So that it doesn’t degenerate into stress, some restaurants offer in Leipzig again this year the traditional Christmas roast “to go”.

The restaurateurs in the trade fair city have been forced to close their shops at 8 p.m. for a few weeks now due to the corona situation in Saxony. The pre-Christmas business basically didn’t take place, the day-to-day business is often hardly worth it.
An additional source of income is the out-of-home business and for some, the experience of the past year shows that this can be really worthwhile, especially at Christmas.
That too Barfus in the famous Barfussgäßchen in the city center, because the chef and his team have been offering delicious roast duck and goose to take home with them under the motto “Martin’s Gans To Go” since November – optionally with side dishes. You can find a similar offer in Glass house in Clara Park or in mosquito castle. In addition to the typical Christmas roast, the restaurant on Waldstraße also has a gourmet platter with lots of mixed delicacies.

Freshly cooked and vacuum packed – all you have to do is warm up the food
If you prefer to order in Barfussgäßchen or the surrounding area, there are a few other inns to choose from. at Wenzel Duck, goose and roulades are freshly cooked and vacuum-packed in Kleine Fleischergasse, so you can easily “prepare” the meal yourself at home – funny YouTube instructions are included. You can still order until December 23rd.
Also in the historical Auerbachs Keller On the market square, where Goethe once dined, everyone wants to help everyone with delicious Christmas classics who simply doesn’t have the time or inclination to spend hours in front of the stove. Orders can be placed until December 22nd for collection on December 23rd or on public holidays.
Im Ratskeller of the city of Leipzig the motto “women away from the stove” is used to cook the favorite dishes of the people of Messestadt “so that you can spend more time with your loved ones”. It’s best to order quickly! Collection is also possible here on Christmas Eve and the public holidays.
It is also very traditional in the Thuringian court in Burgstrasse. In addition to goose leg and venison roulade, there is of course also a vegetarian Christmas version. Order by December 22 – you can pick up your food every day at Christmas.
The Syndeo Restaurant & Lounge at the Hotel INNSIDE by Melia on Gottschedstrasse would also like to spoil its guests with numerous delicacies from the Christmas kitchen. In addition to a vegetarian roast alternative, there are also dishes for children that you can take away. Please order at least two days in advance!

From the duck taxi and the 4 G’s – it’s time to feast at Christmas
As in the previous year, the Duck Taxi will be back in 2021 Ernas Deli on the way from the southern suburbs. It has been rolling since November 11th, but note that delivery is only possible until December 23rd.
Also located in the south suburb Hotel Michaelis is focusing on “4G – Goose, Gohl, Glöße & Gute Sauce” this year – sounds reasonable and should probably not be missed. Not only is collection possible here, but delivery between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. is even possible on the two public holidays for a flat rate.
That also delivers almost around the corner on the Karli Hotel lake view, but only until December 23rd. You can of course also pick up deer ragout or seitan winter roast including a delicious dessert – order by next Monday (December 20th)!
The west of Leipzig should not be neglected either. The Enjoyable near the Lindenauer Markt will take care of your “Entenschmaus” orders on December 25th and 26th.
