The royal formerly known as His Royal Highness Prince Andrew reportedly went to see his mother, the Queen, alone last night (January 13), and his lawyer was forced to stay in the car.

Royal expert Angela Levin made the claim on Twitter this morning, just 12 hours after news broke that Andrew had been stripped of his military affiliations and royal patronages with the Queen’s approval amid the looming Virginia sex case. Giuffre.

Ms Levin tweeted: “Andrew took his solicitor with him when he was called to go see his mother the Queen.

“The lawyer was not allowed in and had to sit in the car waiting for Andrew to come back.”

The Palace said in a statement: “With the Queen’s approval and agreement, the military affiliations and royal patronages of the Duke of York have been returned to the Queen.

“The Duke of York will continue to take no public role and is making this case as a private citizen.”

He will no longer use the style “His Royal Highness” in any official capacity, a royal source added.

He will face a civil trial over sexual assault allegations, which he vehemently denies.

It comes as the Andrew sexual abuse scandal has left the Queen “heartbroken”, according to royal experts and palace insiders.

They say allegations that the Prince sexually abused a 17-year-old girl have plunged the Monarchy into the worst crisis in its history and will mar this year’s Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Princes Charles and William are reported to be furious with Andrew after a judge in New York ruled that the prince, once called “Randy Andy”, can be taken to civil court over allegations that he abused Giuffre three times in 2001.

Andrew has always vehemently denied any accusation of wrongdoing.

And a source close to the duke said last night that he would “continue to defend himself” against Ms Giuffre’s allegations following the judge’s decision to dismiss his legal team’s attempt to dismiss the case.
