It is not yet clear to what extent the delta variant of the coronavirus will still occur in the future. Several experts believe that the new omikron variant will completely displace the delta. But that is not yet the case in Belgium, although omikron has been around there for some time. Belgian virologist Marc van Ranst therefore thinks that delta could well continue to exist.
