Turkey confirms the launch of its first ‘mini satellite’

MADRID, 14 (EUROPA PRESS)

Turkey has confirmed the launch of its first ‘mini satellite’ into orbit and has stressed that it has already issued its first signals, with which it considers the launch to be successful.

“The first signals have been successfully received from our Grizu-263A satellite. Our satellite is alive”, said its operator, the Grizu-263 Space Team, through its account on the social network Twitter.

The satellite was launched Thursday on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral in the US state of Florida. The Grizu-263 Space Team was created in 2016 and the ‘minisatellite’ was designed by students from Bulent Ecevit University.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has applauded the success. “I congratulate our young people, teachers and institutions that gave support for having been successful in participating in this project, the first of its kind for Turkey.”
