The minimum wage in Greece will reach 703 euros in May, the electronic publication Economics Tahidromos reported, quoted by Darik.
The country’s minimum wage had already increased by 2 per cent in January. The second increase will be six percent and is planned for May, the publication notes, citing its sources.
Accelerating the change in the minimum wage is a personal decision of the country’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who asked the Ministry of Labor to take action to implement the plans.
According to the government’s plan, the increase in the minimum wage this year will be close to the percentage increase in gross domestic product, which is expected to be about 8 percent.
After the first increase this year, the minimum wage in Greece is already 663 euros.
