People in a so-called crucial profession (see box below) who do not have a booster or who have not had the disease this year are allowed to go to work, provided they do a self-test every day. After five days they have to do a PCR test.
The current quarantine rules will continue to apply to people who have not had a booster and who do not have a crucial profession. That means ten days of quarantine, unless a PCR test on day five is negative.
New rules
With these new rules, the government wants to prevent the country from being disrupted. According to insiders, the OMT expects the number of people in quarantine to reach 1 million if the quarantine rules remain unchanged. This has enormous consequences for society.
That is why the cabinet is adjusting the rules. It is not yet clear when the rule will come into effect.
Rules were just tightened
Now the urgent advice is that everyone, vaccinated or unvaccinated, must be quarantined for ten days after close contact with an infected person. The rules were tightened just before Christmas. However, a PCR test can be done after five days: if it is negative, the person may be released from quarantine.
Soon the quarantine will disappear for everyone with a booster in their pocket or people who have had corona this year and have recovered.

Relaxations
Tonight there will be another corona press conference at 19:00. Shops, hairdressers and gyms can open their doors again from Saturday under conditions, The Hague sources confirmed yesterday against RTL News. You will be able to shop again until 17:00. The number of people allowed in the shops at the same time remains limited. Supermarkets are allowed to be open until 8 p.m.
Adults will also be allowed to work out outside again and the gyms can open again under conditions. In addition, contact professions, such as hairdressers and nail studios, can open again under conditions. Just like the universities of applied sciences and MBOs.
Medical mouth caps
The advice of the OMT to only use medical mouth caps will probably be followed. It is not yet clear whether the mouth mask obligation will also apply in more places.
In a week and a half there will be a new weighing moment and it will become clear whether the catering and cultural sector can open again.

Crucial professions
The national government distinguishes on the website a number of key professions. These are people who work in the following sectors:
- Personnel working in vital processes.
- People who work in public transport.
- Transport of fuels such as coal, oil, petrol and diesel.
- Postal and parcel delivery.
- People who provide care and youth care and (social) support, veterinarians and para-veterinaries,
- Healthcare, including production and transport of medicines and medical devices.
- Employees who perform necessary work after the death of a person.
- Teachers and staff needed at school, such as for distance learning, childcare and exams.
- People who work for the food chain. The food chain must be viewed broadly. This consists of supermarkets, the delivery of supermarkets, the processing industry and the transports of this industry, but also the collection of products from farmers, the delivery of, for example, animal feed and other products to farmers, the access of workers for the harvest.
- Transport of waste and garbage.
- Childcare.
- Media and communication: for the purpose of providing information to society that is necessary to keep abreast of what is going on.
- Continuity of emergency services. Police and defense have already been declared vital. Also think of people who work for the control room processes, fire service, ambulance care, GHOR and crisis management of the security regions.
- Professions for obtaining official documents, such as photographers and photo studios.
- Necessary government processes (State, province and municipality). For example: paying benefits and allowances, civil affairs, consulates and embassies.
- Supporting positions, such as cleaners or people who work in security, supervision or IT.
- Democratic processes (State General, provincial councils, municipal councils and water board boards), such as meetings by and elections of representatives of the people.
