Today Queen Margrethe II of Denmark celebrates her Golden Jubilee. The ceremony is rather limited, the real festivities have been postponed to summer due to the new wave of corona infections. The Queen visited her parents’ grave. Margrethe is often referred to as Europe’s most popular queen. She took up her position after the death of her father Frederik in 1972. At 81 years old, she is the second longest reigning monarch in Danish history.
