Certain drugs can damage liver function. Includes some prescription drugs and drug the most common, have the potential to damage your liver and cause disease, such as drug-induced hepatitis. As quoted Healthgrades, Here are some of the most common drugs that can harm the liver:
1. NSAIDs and Analgesics
Over-the-counter pain relievers and fever reducers, including NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) and analgesics, have the potential to damage the liver. This medicine can cause toxic hepatitis, which means your liver becomes inflamed from the substance you are taking.
Pain relievers and fever reducers that can harm the liver include acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), naproxen (Aleve) and aspirin , especially when taken with alcohol. Limit over-the-counter pain relievers and take only as directed.
Your liver may recover when you stop taking the medication that caused the damage, but if it’s severe, it can lead to scarring (cirrhosis) and liver failure.
2. Antibiotics
