Instagram Is Reportedly Testing Vertical Scrolling for Stories

SUBANG NEWS Instagram confirmed in February 2021 that they were prototyping the design Stories new with vertical scrolling, similar to TikTok without giving details.

Now, the social networks below Meta it reportedly ended up testing the new design with a small group of users, one of whom was a social media consultant Matt Navarra.

It conveys that some users located in Turkey have received the update Instagram which brings vertical scrolling for Instagram Stories.

Temporary Instagram Stories from the same user can still be seen by tapping the left or right side of the screen, to switch to Stories the next user needs to swipe down.

A techno journalist named Thássius Veloso also reports that he has received a similar update in Brazil, indicating that Instagram has rolled out a new vertical scrolling design to more countries.

The change probably came as an attempt to compete with TikTok, which already offers vertical scrolling in its app. As a result, Instagram also make Stories focus more on video than static content.

Back in December 2021, Instagram also tested increasing the maximum limit for videos on Stories, which went from 15 seconds to 60 seconds. Although users can post videos of up to 1 minute on Instagram Stories, they become segmented into four videos of 15 seconds each.

Not only that, Instagram also reportedly testing a new way to sort feed, even the option to edit the profile grid as the user wants. However, it is not yet clear when or if this feature will be available to all users.
