Don’t want to be vaccinated against Covid-19, a father is forbidden to see his child

MONTREAL, KOMPAS.com – A father in Canada Those who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 are temporarily deprived of the right to see their 12-year-old child.

The judge took the decision on the grounds that it would be in the best interests of the child as reported BBC, Thursday (13/1/2022).

A family lawyer told The duty that this decision is the first decision that deprives biological parents of the right to see their child on the basis of vaccination.

The decision was made in late December 2021 in the Canadian Province of Quebec.

The ruling suspended the visitation rights of the biological father until February, unless he decides to be vaccinated.

The mother told the court that she knew her ex-husband had not been vaccinated.

Her ex -husband often expressed his opposition to vaccine via uploads on social media.

The mother lives with her new partner and two other children who are too young to be vaccinated.

The judge said the birth father’s visit was not in the child’s best interest because Quebec is experiencing a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Quebec, which has the highest number of Covid-19-related deaths in Canada, announced earlier this week it would tax residents who refuse to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Although only about 12 percent of Quebec’s residents qualify but are reluctant to be vaccinated, they account for a quarter of all hospital cases.
