In the published recording, you can hear how the composer evaluates himself in a conversation with Liu Gulevsky – how good or useless a man he is in the ten-point system.
Paul admitted to himself that he was trying not to criticize his wife in the presence of others, nor did he object to a man showing attention to his wife, and he said that he had full confidence in his wife’s use of the family budget.
However, the composer had to underestimate himself in terms of giving flowers, spending free time together, and whether Paul was showing some interest in her intellectual life, the books she read, her views on life’s problems, Paul answered with “zero” points.
Raimonds Pauls has said in several interviews that when he exchanged his wedding rings with his beloved Lana, he had nothing – he didn’t even have the money to buy good champagne, so after registering at the registry office, both of them went to the cinema. They have lived in poverty for a long time.
