A Swedish 55-year-old has been sentenced to pay daily fines after a shocking incident that took place last winter.
The man had been caring for his sick mother for a long time, and had long wondered where he would bury her when she passed away. After pressure from the social services, the choice finally fell on a church in Uppsala in Sweden, writes SVT. Also Our country has discussed the matter.
After the choice was made, two employees from the funeral contractor went home to pick up the deceased, and together they had agreed that the man should have 20 minutes to say a final goodbye.
In just over 20 minutes, the man managed to use a specially built carriage to transport the coffin with his mother out through the garden. He then replaced the old coffin with a new coffin.
The funeral directors sensed peace and no danger when they would eventually carry the coffin they thought the woman was in. But then they began to realize that not everything was as it should be.
Both reacted to the fact that there were scratches on the coffin and that the coffin label was curly. When they decided to open the coffin, the truth came out. There lay three full sandbags.
– It is not even in my mind that someone should deceive someone in that way. That you plan something like that is incomprehensible to me, said the funeral contractor according to SVT.
The man, who was then charged, explained in court that he needed several days to decide where he wanted to bury his mother, and that he therefore chose to do as he did.
