The Peruvian Selection defeated 2-0 the League 1 Foreigners in a friendly match played at the Villa Deportiva Nacional (VIDENA). Those led by Ricardo Gareca imposed their conditions thanks to goals from Mark Lopez Y Andy Polo and they were ready to face Panama (01/16) next Sunday at the National Stadium in Lima.
The ‘Blanquirroja’ started the game with great enthusiasm. So much so that they quickly stepped on the opposite ground in search of the opening of the marker. Yoshimar Yotún (2′) was about to open the account, however, he missed a clear chance and sent the ball wide of Christian Limousin’s left post.
Subsequently, Peru took control of the ball and arrived dangerously – on several occasions – at the goal of the foreign team from League 1. Flores (15′) tried it with a header, but the round ended above the crossbar. Seven minutes later, the ‘Orejas’ tried with a left-foot shot that was unsuccessful.
At 26′, Yoshimar Yotún created danger on the Liga 1 goal with a free kick shot. Limousin, with a great first half, once again won the individual duel against the former Cruz Azul player in two clear scoring moves (37′ and 38′). However, the goalkeeper was unable to stop Marcos López’s header (44′), which ended in a 1-0 win for Peru.
Already in the second half, the foreigners almost made it 1-1 thanks to Abdiel Ayarza (47′). Minutes later, they were miraculously saved after two consecutive shots hit the post (49′). Later, López (51′) tried his left foot and Ignacio Barrios – goalkeeper for ADT de Tarma and substitute for Limousin – caught the round.
Next, Gaspar Gentile (54′) made a great individual play and tested the resistance of Pedro Gallese, who responded in a great way and prevented the fall of his goal. Ricardo Gareca, with the intention of testing players, made several modifications and sent Aldo Corzo to the field, who missed a one-on-one with Barrios at 72′.
Finally, Andy Polo, another of the newcomers, appeared at 78′ and scored a great goal from outside the area to calm the national squad. Seconds later, the referee marked the end of the game in La Videna.
