Nearly ten thousand people on Curaçao are infected with the covid-19 virus. Today, more than 1,100 new infections were added. Yesterday three people died in hospital, today two. The total number of people who have succumbed to the effects of the virus since the start of the pandemic is now 199.
Eleven people are now in intensive care, one more than yesterday. Twenty patients are in the covid ward, just like yesterday.
After an initial drop on Monday, the number of infections rose again on Tuesday. The record of Thursday January 6 was not achieved today, but it was close. A record has been reached with 9,979 active cases. Never before have so many people had covid on the island at the same time.
Aruba
The number of infections in Aruba decreased slightly today. 575 people tested positive for covid-19, 135 fewer than yesterday.
The number of active cases dropped from nearly 3,300 to just over 3,000. More than 900 people were allowed to leave their isolation place. They no longer have covid symptoms and are no longer contagious.
One patient was allowed to leave the intensive care unit, but there are now three people with covid19. There are 23 patients in the covid ward, three fewer than yesterday.
Bonaire
On Bonaire, a patient died today from the consequences of covid. Since the start of the pandemic, 25 people have died from Covid-19 on Bonaire.
The number of new infections rose sharply. 158 people who tested positive were added today. The number of active cases increased from 787 yesterday to 815 today.
There are four patients in hospital with covid-19, the same number as yesterday.
