Beans. A CFA to train public transport drivers

“Recruiting is the most enjoyable activity as a business leader,” enthuses Franck Duval, General Manager of Transport for the Metz Métropole conurbation (Tamm), operator of the Le Met’ network. With Michel Madinier, director of Keolis Thionville Fensch, they came to open, this Wednesday, January 12, the CFA, Campus Mobilités Keolis, in Fèves.

For the inaugural promotion, 13 apprentices will be trained for six months. During the first three, young people will practice driving and acquire specific skills, such as welcoming people with reduced mobility. The next three will take place on the networks of Thionville Fensch de Keolis or those of the Met’. Following their exams, the apprentices will obtain the professional title of public transport driver on the road, the D license and a permanent contract in one of the two companies. During this period, all these learners are also paid and the training costs are borne by the skills mobility operator.

“It’s really a win-win project, says the director of Keolis, addressing the apprentices. You will have a lasting job since you will have the opportunity to spend your entire career in one of our two companies. »

An enthusiasm shared by Franck Duval: “I am very attached to the creation of this CFA. We have real recruitment problems in our professions. At the same time, we are continuing to develop the Metz transport network. So we always need to recruit new drivers. »

Motivated to grow professionally

As during a return to school, the 13 apprentices seem enthusiastic to be part of it. “I was an interim delivery driver at Amazon, says Gérard Mathieu, member of this promotion. Here, at Keolis, I will be able to discover the profession. »

Aged 23, Abdelkader was already working for The Met: “I was a meditation agent for a year and a half, he testifies. I am happy to have the opportunity to evolve in my professional life”.
