Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul entrusted to serve as Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) the period 2022-2027. He was elected by the general chairman of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf.
The announcement of Gus Ipul to be the Secretary General of PBNU which was just delivered by Rais Aam Miftahul Achyar today, Wednesday (12/1).
“The PBNU secretary next to me is Gus ipul. He is the swordsman of the muktamar, while there is a muktamar coming out of his sanctuary. Gus Saifullah Yusuf,” said Miftahul Achyar.
PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf officially read out Gus Ipul’s name as PBNU Secretary General. He was accompanied by a number of names as Deputy Secretary General, including Abudssalam Sohib, Sulaiman Tanjung, Maryati Solihah, Najib Azca, Faisal Zaimima, and Abdul Qodir.
Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul is currently still serving as Mayor of Pasuruan, East Java. He won in the 2020 local elections.
Previously, the man who was born on August 28, 1964 had also been the Deputy Governor of East Java from 2009 to 2019.
He also had a political career at the national level, namely when he served as Minister of Development of Indonesia’s Disadvantaged Regions from October 2004 to May 2007.
Yahya Cholil Staquf was elected general chairman of PBNU for the 2021-2026 period after defeating his competitor, Said Aqil Siroj, who has served two terms.
After being elected, Yahya Cholil Staquf said that his management for the 2021-2026 period would be filled with young cadres. He said young cadres would be dominant when carrying out various NU programs in the future.
“Young NU cadres will appear more,” Yahya said in an interview with CNNIndonesia TV, Wednesday (29/12).
